If you have ever spent time reading the FreeBSDŽ developer mailing lists, you will already know what a bikeshed is and have your favorite color picked out.
Managment consultant C. Northcote Parkinson once observed that it
would be easier to get the average board of directors to approve
building a multi-billion dollar nuclear power plant than a simple
bikeshed, because the board members would be incapable of
understanding the plans for the power plant, anyone can understand the
plans for a bikeshed so everyone will want to contribute.
In the open source world, calls for review of complex code often go
unanswered while the simplest changes are discussed at length.
